Graduates (1978)

Take a few minutes and fill out the graduates form by clicking on add your info and upload a current picture of yourself.  Your yearbook grad picture will be added from this end as many may not have access to their yearbooks.

It's been over thirty years and we've all changed and been busy with our lives. It would be great to know a little bit about you. You certainly can't look as bad as this guy from our old biology class!

Don't forget to update your profile every once in a while!

Comment: I can't believe 30 years have flown by so fast!  I still keep in touch with a number of fellow grads and have bumped into many others over the years.  Life's been good.  For the past 20 years I've lived in Thornhill and work for a major bank.  I'm married to my wonderful wife, Cassie, and have 2 great kids -- James, 16 and Christine, 14.  Looking forward to seeing old friends in September.  Steve Brioux -- how come your picture isn't up yet!

Comment: I don't feel old enough to be able to say "It's been 30 years since I went to high school" but my kids remind me with periodic references to 'well in the days of dinosaurs'. I've got a baseball tournament same weekend as our reunion, but I'll be there at one point in the evening. Look forward to seeing you all.

Comment: So how much can happen in 30 years? As the yearbook writes I went on to become a Dental Hygenist, then got into Architechtural Drafting which landed me a job with a Commercial firm. Had three kids, lost my first husband with all three under 7 years old. Ran my own design business for a few years went back to University and got my teaching degree. I've been teaching high school for 9 years now web design, flash annimation and television & broadcasting. Remarried 4 years now, my kids, Stephaie 21, at NSCAD in Halifax, Kristen 20 at Trent and Lucas 16 going into Grade 12. This is not my last stop when the last one graduates it's time for another change. This is not the end so much more to experience.
Who ever said that the older we get the slower we get. That's just crazy!

Comment: Damn, I hope we are having a good time!  Married Jennifer, my American Bride, 24 years ago.  We met while working with street kids here in Toronto.  We now have six children of our own ranging in age from 5 to 22.  The youngest, Hope, is doing her best to keep the old man young - or sort of.  Spent most of my career working on behalf of children locally and nationally - now working on a campaign to build a new hospital in TO.  Newmarket is home.  Thanks to John McKenzie for giving me the heads up.  Way to go Leslie - great job.   Don't blink.

Comment: Sept. 2018 Update:

Leslie sure was right. A lot changes in 10 years.

7 years ago, after being with Research in Motion for 7 years, my job disappeared out from under me overnight. Still coming out of the recession, flying jobs in Canada were few and far between. So, I ended up in the Middle East and have been working for Qatar Executive, a branch of Qatar Airways, for the past 7 years. It certainly isn't Toronto and definitely has its moments, but, I've been there 7 years, so that says something.

Sadly, not too long after that, my marriage fell apart, so the first few years there were......interesting.

But life goes on. I am happy, healthy, seeing a whole bunch of places in the world I never imagined going.

Most importantly, my youngest (who is now going into 3rd year in International Studies at Glendon) is making both himself and his dad proud and we are closer than ever.

I won't go so far as saying 40 years, 40lbs, because I don't think that has happened.

Because I am such a horrible correspondent, I am looking forward to seeing everyone again after so long.

30 Years, 30 lbs? Unfortunately they both sound about right.

Finally had a chance to drag out the Clarion 78 this past weekend and the memories started flooding back. Congratulations to Leslie for having the fortitude to pull this all together, and my thanks to Scott McNally for taking the time and effort to track me down, as he has with so many others.

There's been a few ups and downs, but I've managed to make a reasonable go of it in aviation.

Married and then divorced in the mid to late 80's.

My wife, Suzanne, and I have been together since 92, married since 2000 and it's absolutely wonderful being able to live with your best friend. I have a son, 17, that lives with his mother, Suzanne's daughter, 16, that is just like my own (and both in their last year of high school) and we have a son, 10, that really helps keep me young.

Life is good!

See you all on the 6th.

Comment: Like everyone else, I can't believe 30 years have gone by. Seeing the pictures on the website have certainly brought back some great memories. Thanks to Leslie for that and all the terrific work she has done in organizing this reunion. I live in St.John's Nfld. now and I've been working as an Emergency Room Physician for the past 15 years. Carrie and I have two wonderful boys, Max 10 and Sam 9. I unfortunately am unable to make it for the big bash, but I hope there will be more in the years to come. Have a great time. I look forward to the reunion pictures.

Comment:

Just my luck, yesterday a co-worker of mine was talking about her school reunion and it got me thinking.  Wow it's been 30 years since the days of Michael Power/St.Joseph.  I checked the school website and just found out about the reunion on Saturday...sadly just a bit too late.  I really enjoyed reading the Graduate and guess book entries and finding out how many of you doing.  I think we’ve done quite well for a bunch of 1959-60 baby-boomers.  (Humm… just think …2009-2010…we’re all turning 50!)  J

Here's my little update. I've been married to Paul for 25 years and we have two wonderful sons (Jason 21 and Justin 17). After our 1983 wedding, we lived in Ajax and then Mississauga before moving to New Brunswick in 1988.  After 8 years on the Atlantic we were happy to move back to Mississauga in 1996 and have been here ever since.  I've been a legal assistant for 28 years now...just can't seem to get away from those Bay Street lawyers. ...Ha ha!  Life has been good… no complaints.

Hope you all have a great time on Saturday.

Rita

PS:  Great job Leslie…I’m still smiling while thinking back to the late ‘70’s.

Comment: (2014 update) Hi all!-- Greetings from Aotearoa-- The Land of the Long White Cloud-- Middle Earth-- The Land of the All Blacks and Lorde---New Zealand!  fyi:  NZ has been my home since 1991, and I currently like on Auckland's North Shore.   I am a secondary school English teacher at Long Bay College-- and I am lucky enough to enjoy an expansive ocean view from my desk in my classroom.

My eldest son, Matthew (aged 27), is the only one of my kids to have been born in Canada.  He moved back to Ontario in Sept of 2013 to take up a role with Habitat for Humanity in Guelph.  As I write this, he hopes to make a move to Toronto.  My only daughter, Stephanie (aged 23) is a Craft Beer Enthusiast who is nearing the end of her studies in Media and Business  Administration at Victoria University (in her hometown of Wellington.) She and her beau are looking forward to travelling to OZ for the Summer/Christmas UNI Break. My youngest, Ryan, will turn 20 in Jan 2014 and he is a "sapper" (a Member of the Engineering Corps) in the NZ Army.  His passion is his motorcycle. All three of my wonderful kids have flown the nest. Watch this space!

We keep busy and happy-- and we are proud to be dual citizens: Caniwis! Lucky us-- we get to claim the best of both worlds.  Life has been hectic and eventful "Downunder"-- and, now that the nest is empty, I have room and time for even more visitors. I love showing off this amazing country to family and friends alike.  Do let me know if you are ever "in the neighbourhood"!  At the very least I can point you in the right direction to enjoy whatever takes your fancy in the Greatest Little Country on Earth! (fyi- I will be coming "home" to Canada  (The Greatest BIG Country on Earth) for Christmas 2014-- and I hope to catch up with some of you at the 1978 MPSJ mini-reunion on Dec 23.)

Cheers

Anne
